Dear Parents/Carers,

Change of end of term date to Friday 17th December

As you will be aware, all schools locally are struggling to maintain  both staff and pupils’ attendance in the face of unprecendented numbers of colds and viruses. This is on top of the covid pandemic issues, including the new variant, and the isolation requirements around unvaccinated individuals.

Although children need to be in school as much as possible to make up for lost learning time, we know that no one wants a repeat of last Christmas, when we were unable to meet with family and friends. Therefore, we have decided to bring the end of term forward to Friday 17th December, but at the usual home times, rather than a lunch time departure. This is because we are mindful of the possible accelerated transmission of illnesses within the school setting and we want to ensure a few clear days break between the end of term and the festive period, when many of you will want to visit vulnerable family members and friends.

Children in all year groups will be expected back in school on Tuesday 4th January 2022 at the normal times. I appreciate this was orginally planned as an Inset day, but given the early closure at the end of this term, we have decided to forego this. Children will also be provided with additional homework for the holiday period.

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. Please continue to keep us informed if your child is unwell or develops any covid symptoms.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs H G Denham, Executive Headteacher, Marish Academy Trust
