Outdoor Learning
For our Outdoor Learning trip, we went to Chalfont St Peter.
When we went to the woods our instructor Yana thought of different knots to do with Para Rope. We like the Siberian Knot. When we were building our shelter we had to use teamwork to successfully construct our shelter.
To Make a Fire we had to use the 3 elements, Oxygen, Fuel and Heat. We learnt different ways to start a fire, one way we started a fire is with Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly), Cotton and fire strikers. For the fuel you start with small thin sticks so they will easily catch and then slightly bigger sticks and afterwards it progress to bigger and bigger sticks and logs.

In the Outdoor Learning, we learnt that in order to make a healthy fire we need 3 elements, a source of fuel, heat and oxygen. In order to build a strong, sturdy shelter, you need to have a group of trees close together, a tarp and some paracord, to make a fire you can use flint and stud. we also learnt some new knots such as, the Siberian Knot.

On our Outdoor Learning Trip, we went to Chalfont St Peter. In the Forest we were split into groups and set out to make out own tents, filtered water and a Stove. Once we made our Stove and tents we each got under our tents and our group leader threw water on the tent. We also played a game to show us how to do a fire. After that we had our lunch.
Then we got back to our groups and learnt different methods on how to get a fire started. we used cotton covered in Petroleum Jelly/Lip Balm and Vaseline. We used the flint and rod technique to create sparks and light the cotton on the fire. We tried without the Vaseline and it barely worked.
After that we used a special tree's twigs to try and make a big fire. We all gathered twigs with baby pinecones, we also made a big fire.
