Number Day in Resource Base

We have been doing Incy Wincy Spider in RB for Literacy so we counted the numbers on spiders legs and painted our own 8-Legged Spiders.
Then we had a competition to see how many Jumps, Claps, Bounces and Rolls we could do throughout the morning and finally we made playdough numbers!

The Aliens have landed in the Resource Base!

Our day

Resource Base have a busy day and learn a wide range of skills through a Creative Curriculum with lots of hands on, multi-sensory activities.

 Scientific testing

children enjoyed tasting different cereals and recording their observations.

The Little Red Hen

Pupils in the Resource Base have been learning the story of the Little Red Hen.  They looked at wheat, grains, flour and bread and, on the last day, had a visit from the Little Red Hen herself who laid an egg specially for them!

The wheat was kindly donated by Marriage’s Millers of Chelmsford.

Learning the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Pupils in Resource Base have been learning the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff by acting it out in class.  They took turns at the different roles and all enjoyed going over the ‘bridge’.  After all this drama, they wrote about the story and learnt about how traditional tales often start with, ‘Once upon a time.’

Maths

All children in Resource Base are making good progress in maths by using wide variety of objects to practice counting, addition and subtraction.  We are very proud of them!

Out and about

Children in Resource Base enjoy going out on trips.  Last term, they went to Black Park to learn about animals in their habitats and enjoyed looking at worms, beetles, spiders, woodlice and centipedes.  Year 4 pupils went swimming and all the pupils enjoyed visiting Father Christmas at Wendover Garden Centre Christmas Grotto.

The Three Little Pigs

In the Resource Base we have been reading the story of  The Three Little Pigs and the children have been writing a character description of the Wolf. This writing is by Fatima, Mia, Issa and Bilal.

PE

This  term we are using apparatus in PE to improve our balance, co-ordination and gross motor skills.  It is brilliant!

“We all enjoyed a fantastic day out at Hounslow Urban Farm – and we were very brave!”
